London 18 July 2023 – The Commission for Carbon Competitiveness has launched its report today, setting out a path to NetZero while keeping British industry competitive. The Commission’s key recommendation to Government is to introduce a UK Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.
The Commission was founded in February 2023 as a cross-party and cross-industry effort to explore how the United Kingdom can reach net zero without undermining the competitiveness of British industry.
Through a targeted consultation to UK industry, MPs, trade unions, academics and think tanks, the Commission received 20 written submissions and held four oral evidence sessions. Following this process, and in combination with academic research, the Commission has developed a set of 12 core recommendations.
